Why I (Mostly) Quit Alcohol In My 50s
In my 50s, I made the decision to quit the way I used alcohol in my life—not because of a rock-bottom moment, but because I realized it wasn’t serving me anymore.
Coming from a family of drinkers and spending years in the airline industry’s party culture, alcohol was just a normal part of life. I used it to unwind, numb out, and cope with emotions.
But over time, I started questioning: Is this really adding to my life? This video is my story of walking away from alcohol, how I changed my mindset, and the resources that helped me along the way—including Quit Lit, Andrew Huberman’s research on alcohol’s effects, and my Throttle Back the Bottle program to help others rethink their relationship with drinking. If you're curious about quitting or cutting back, you're not alone! Let’s talk about it.
No raging drunks, alcoholics or family fights.
What I remember most is everything involved drinking - holidays, camping, lake trips, holidays, special events - there was always alcohol.
Maybe this describes you, too?
