Toxic Repressed Emotions
Grief doesn’t just bring sadness.
Sometimes it brings guilt.
Regret.
Anger.
And emotions we didn’t even know we were carrying.
After my dad passed, I started noticing something important: many of the feelings that surfaced weren’t just grief—they were stories I had been telling myself for years.
Stories like:
“I should have visited more.”
“I should have done more.”
“I should have carried more of the responsibility.”
In today’s episode on Lower Toxic Life, we’re talking about toxic guilt and repressed emotions—and how many women carry emotional burdens that were never truly theirs to carry.
Because emotional toxins can be just as heavy as physical ones.
In this conversation we explore:
🌿 The difference between healthy guilt and toxic guilt
🌿 Why daughters often feel responsible for aging parents
🌿 How repressed emotions show up in the body
🌿 The emotional detox that happens during grief
🌿 What well-meaning friends often get wrong about supporting someone who is grieving
Healing doesn’t mean pretending everything was perfect.
Sometimes it simply means allowing ourselves to feel the full truth of our emotions without shame.
