Manifesting a Life at the Beach: My Journey from Dream to Reality

Have you ever dreamed of living at the beach? I did. And in this blog post, I’m going to share with you how I manifested my dream life and location by the ocean.

Dreaming of the Beach

Growing up in Southern Colorado, the cold, white, frozen winters felt desolate to me. I can vividly remember thinking, When I grow up, I’m moving to California. I’m getting to the beach. That dream stayed with me for as long as I can remember.

Life, however, had a winding path for me. My career in the airline industry took me to Nashville, Tennessee, before eventually landing me in Phoenix, Arizona. But my beach dream never faded. It was always in the back of my mind.

The Power of Visualization

In the mid-90s, I started learning more about self-growth, visualization, and manifestation. I wrote down my goals, including one of my biggest dreams—living at the beach. To bring that vision to life, I took one simple yet powerful step: I subscribed to Coastal Living magazine. Every month, I would look through the pages, envisioning myself walking into those beautiful beach homes, dressing in flowy, beachy clothes, and feeling the ocean breeze on my face.

Taking Inspired Action

Living in the Arizona heat, my husband and I decided to rent a beach house near Ventura, California, for two weeks one summer. We instantly fell in love with the area. It was charming, peaceful, and away from the usual tourist spots. Around that time, I met a woman from Ventura at a networking event, and I started to feel like the universe was guiding me toward this place.

After 9/11, our plans changed. We had originally decided to stay in Phoenix, but the events of that day shifted our perspective, prompting us to move to Lake Arrowhead, California, in 2002. While I loved it, I still yearned for the beach.

Manifesting the Perfect Home

One fateful weekend, I attended a women’s retreat near Ventura. While exploring the town, I found a plaque that read Mayberry by the Sea – Ventura. I bought it and placed it on my desk, where I would see it every day. Not long after, I visited a model home at the Mayfair Lofts in Ventura. I grabbed a floor plan of my dream unit—the perfect corner space with a breathtaking ocean view.

I placed that floor plan next to my Mayberry by the Sea sign and visualized it daily. I imagined myself living there, waking up to the sound of the waves, and enjoying coffee on my balcony.

A year later, that exact unit became available in a short-sale situation. We were the last ones to put in an offer—and we got it.

Living the Dream… and Learning from It

We owned our beachside loft in Ventura for ten years, and I cherished every moment. I walked the Strand daily, meditated by the ocean, and soaked in the beauty of the Channel Islands. However, over time, I also realized that some aspects of beach living weren’t as idyllic as I had imagined. The noise, the crowds, and the realities of city life by the coast started to wear on me.

Eventually, we made the bittersweet decision to move back to Arizona, settling in Scottsdale. While it felt like I was leaving behind a dream, I had a revelation: the beach is a mindset.

The Beach Is Wherever You Are

Before I physically lived at the beach, I had already “lived” there in my mind through visualization. And once I left, I realized I could still go there anytime I wanted—mentally and emotionally. I could close my eyes and hear the seagulls, feel the ocean breeze, and immerse myself in the tranquility of the waves.

Manifestation is real. It’s about deciding what you want, focusing on it, and taking intentional steps toward it. Whether it’s the beach or any other dream you hold close to your heart, you have the power to bring it to life.

Mindset Techniques for Manifesting Your Dream Beach Life

These mindset techniques will help you align your thoughts, emotions, and actions with your dream of living at the beach (or any big goal you’re working toward).

1. Visualize Daily as if It's Already Happening

  • Close your eyes for a few minutes each day and imagine waking up in your dream beach home.

  • Feel the ocean breeze, hear the waves, smell the salt air—engage all your senses.

  • Visualize details: your morning coffee on the deck, walking on the sand, decorating your space.

2. Use Present-Tense Affirmations

  • Speak as if you already live your dream life. Some examples:

    • “I love waking up to the sound of the waves every morning.”

    • “I am so grateful for my peaceful beach home.”

    • “Opportunities are aligning to bring me my perfect coastal life.”

  • Write them down daily in a journal for reinforcement.

3. Go on “Artist Dates” to Immerse Yourself in the Lifestyle

  • Spend time in coastal areas, visit open houses, walk along the shore, or sketch/write about your dream life.

    • Eat at beachside cafés, shop at local markets—act as if you’re already part of the community. This signals to your subconscious that this life is real and attainable.

    4. Make Small, Aligned Decisions Every Day

    • Ask yourself: What would the future version of me do?

    • Would she spend time researching coastal properties? Would she start downsizing unnecessary clutter?

    • Even small actions—changing your phone wallpaper to a beach scene or buying coastal home décor—reinforce the vision.

    5. Trust the Process & Release Resistance

    • Avoid stressing about how it will happen—stay open to possibilities.

    • When doubts creep in, reframe them: Instead of “This is impossible,” say “The perfect opportunity is finding me.”

    • Keep a journal of “manifestation wins”—small signs, synchronicities, or moments that confirm you’re on the right path.
