When people think about the Carnivore Diet, they often imagine someone who has loved steak and burgers their entire life. But what if you don’t even like meat — and you’re curious about trying Carnivore? That was me.
I hadn’t eaten beef since I was 20. A bad relationship and a story I told myself about meat kept me away from it for decades. Instead, I bounced from diet to diet — low-fat, paleo, keto, fasting — you name it, I tried it. The only one I never attempted was vegan, because let’s be honest… I could never say goodbye to bacon.
But as my health struggles mounted, I began researching deeper. I discovered that ruminant animals — like cows, lamb, and bison — provide some of the most nutrient-dense food on the planet. Packed with bioavailable protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, beef isn’t just another food choice; it’s a foundation for healing.
Still, the thought of cooking beef again felt intimidating. Could I really enjoy it after decades of avoiding it?
One day, curiosity won. I quietly bought a ribeye, brought it home, seasoned it simply, and cooked it in butter. I took a bite — and was shocked. I loved it. The tenderness, the richness, the satiety… it felt like my body had been craving this all along.
That moment marked the beginning of not just a Carnivore journey, but a mindset shift. I realized that much of my resistance to beef wasn’t about taste — it was about beliefs and stories I had carried for too long.
